Magento 2 · Sage X3 · Multi-region B2B

One Magento estate operating as three country businesses.

Westlab supplies laboratory and scientific products to schools, universities, healthcare, industry, and individual buyers. Over four years, its Magento operation grew from a single Australian storefront into a three-country B2B and B2C estate spanning Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

Complexity lived between the systems.

Each country required its own environments, currency, taxes, pricing, payments, fulfillment behavior, users, and launch controls—while the storefronts still had to agree with one Sage X3 ERP. The catalog added another layer of difficulty through company accounts, negotiated pricing, quotes, bundles, configurables, dangerous-goods rules, and country-specific operating requirements.

02 · What we delivered

Built around the operating reality.

  1. Cloned and separated the Australian production estate into staging and production environments for Canada, including dedicated Magento infrastructure, roles, currency assumptions, order prefixes, tax behavior, payments, and go-live controls.
  2. Established the New Zealand storefront and handled product migration and currency cleanup while keeping the three-country estate operationally aligned.
  3. Owned the Magento-to-Sage X3 connection through an FTP, SQL-view, and eBridge pipeline, including quote-pricing imports, surcharge exports, and diagnosis of CSV and purchase-order formatting failures.
  4. Extended B2B company accounts, multi-company customer relationships, business divisions, payment on account, purchase-order payment, and customer-group or tier pricing.
  5. Solved bundle, configurable-product, quick-buy, component-visibility, virtual-category, bulky-goods, and dangerous-goods requirements across a technical catalog.
  6. Improved search and conversion through Algolia, Google Shopping, customer reviews, wishlists, stock notifications, rewards, gift cards, freight messaging, CRO work, and the Magento 2.4.5 upgrade.

03 · Outcome

Three country operations, one accountable platform team.

Westlab now operates a multi-region Magento estate that supports distinct country behavior without losing agreement with the ERP behind it. The long-running engagement combines expansion, integration ownership, catalog engineering, B2B workflow design, upgrades, conversion work, and day-to-day platform stewardship.
